Found an Injured Adult Mammal?

If you’ve found an animal that is showing any of the following signs- please call us:

  • cannot walk, or is limping

  • is visibly injured

  • is covered in ants and flies

  • is lethargic

An adult animal of any kind tends to be aggressive when it’s injured. Furthermore, this animal may be sick and some diseases may carry on to humans or your pets.

Do not attempt to capture an animal that is too big, too aggressive or is foaming at the mouth!

Do not attempt to capture an animal if you’re not confident in doing so!

If the animal is small enough, or too weak to put up a fight, you may attempt to capture it, unless it is well enough to make it’s way into a live trap.

If possible, it is better to corner the animal into a box or crate, using a broom or a stick to coax it in.

If you do need to grab it, please make sure you have an adequate box or carrier prepared in advance and please take full precautions while doing so:

  • use protective gloves

  • wear sunglasses or protective eye gear

  • use a blanket or a big towel to grab it

While grabbing the animal, try being as gentle and calm as possible, keeping it’s stress levels to a minimum. A stressed animal can compound its injuries or may even die. Putting the towel or blanket over its head can calm it down. Make sure to grab it carefully by its body while keeping its head covered and its mouth secure until you put it in the box.

Once in the box, make sure to keep it in a warm, calm, and quiet environment.
